An absolute triumph of a film and an extremely satisfying follow up to the first entry. I had my doubts that this could live up to the absolutely mammoth expectations but it delivered and then some. The scale and scope of some of the shots is truly breathtaking and the plot follows in similar breadth. Dune has long been panned as an obtuse story that is very difficult to adapt from its large body of written work. My greatest fear was that the movie would severally cut down on the complexity of the universe and the narrative to try and avoid these pitfalls. Instead Villeneuve pulls out all the stops and delivers a meaty plot, over the top visuals and a haunting score. Very excited by the prospect of more Dune on the big screen, or worthy peers aspiring to match this masterpiece.
