Not Pixar’s best by a long shot but totally serviceable. The immigrant story was well executed however the love story ends up being the fulcrum and doesn’t quite pass muster. I’m also terrified of the world these characters live in with both biological rascisim, unintentional death via infrastructure, and a generally fragile mortality of the elemental people. They literally show one of the fire people simply snuff out as a death, one moment alive and the next gone without a trace vanished into the aether. A world of virtually no coporeal form but fragile life spans is like some sort of ancient curse, as if these beings have lost their immortality after angering their diety. Still better than Cars.
