More hamfisted than ‘The Big Short’ by a mile, and not clever enough to make up for that fact. It wasn’t that what Vice was trying to explain was wrong, it was just presented in the most contrite and pedestrian manner I can imagine.

Some of the scenes in the 70’s worked, being a period piece about the Nixon and Ford flunkies could of worked. Instead I got to witness an extremely stripped down narrative of the 9/11 era packaged in a clunky and disjointed series of vignettes.

The good: Christian Bale was really good as a disgusting Dick Cheney. His performance in American Hustle was definitely a serious influence in this movie. Sam Rockwell also really did justice to George W. Both actors did the shit out of their job and don’t deserve to knocked for some of the writings dumber choices.
