Not what I thought I was getting into but powerful none the less. Reading after the inauguration of Trump has certainly given the books an increased sense of urgency. Lavin lays out a convincing case that the Christian Right’s obsession with children, education and conformity is a deeply corrosive and damaging force to the body politic of the American notion. I read Talia’s newsletter each week and love her prose, so for the most part this book reads itself.
