Some interesting nuggets in here about life in the GDR but missing some meaty conclusions to really tie all of this together. I think 2 more focused works: one on the Ulbricht era and one on the Honecker era + Unification would have probably been more cohesive. As it stands its a pretty wide survey of a really broad topic so mostly you just feel like you’re splashing around with some surface level information.
